Reference News Network reported on January 9 that Taiwanese media said that Hon Hai had cancelled its huge investment case in Maharashtra, India, due to the differences of ideas between Hon Hai and major customer Apple, and local officials have come forward to confirm it. However, the Hon Hai Group issued a statement on the evening of January 7 stating that this is a false statement and that the Group is currently cooperating with major customers to make smooth progress in local production.
According to the Taiwan Times Newspaper on January 7, Hon Hai Group signed a related agreement in Maharashtra in 2015 and plans to invest $ 5 billion in the local area to build a notebook computer and mobile phone production plant. According to Indian media reports, Maharashtra officials confirmed that Hon Hai ’s decision to cancel the plan is rumored to be related to Apple ’s capacity adjustments in India.
According to the report, however, Hon Hai issued a statement later stating that, in response to media reports, the Group ’s and customers ’opinions on setting up factories in India are different. It is a false statement that the Group is currently cooperating with major customers to make smooth progress in local production. It is hereby clarified.
The statement pointed out that the Group's investment plans around the world will regularly review the political and economic situation in various countries and adjust to the needs of customers to strive for the maximum rights and interests of customers, companies, shareholders, employees and partners.
